Here on the farm we raise 2 different types of chickens.  We raise a Production Red breed for our laying hens, and we raise a Red Ranger breed for fryers and broilers.

We maintain a small flock of around 40 laying hens.  Our hens provide us with between 25-35 eggs per day year round.  They are cooped at night but are free to range around the main yard which is about an acre in size.  Currently all of our eggs are pre sold to one customer, although we do hold a few back for ourselves.

Our meat poultry flock varys in size throughout the year.  In the winter the flock will dwindle to about 25 by the end of February.  In March we will get our first batch of chicks which usually means 200-400 new little mouths to feed.  Every 3 months another 200-400 chicks arrive.  Finally in September our last batch of chicks will be delivered.  All of our broilers free range in a 2-3 acre paddock year round once they reach 1 month of age. Currently we have no broilers for sale.  All of our current and future stock has been sold.
